"
Our group at UCL has used CombiCult™ numerous times for the rapid determination of novel and efficient protocols for ES cell differentiation. The second generation system is a remarkably effective screening method, which has clear advantages over both manual and automated processes."

Regenerative Medicine at
University College London
CombiCult™ technology
Highly directed differentiation of stem cells requires cell culture in a temporally defined series of variable media.
Click here for a brief animated tutorial explaining how CombiCult™ enables massive screens that rapidly identify the optimal media combinations to generate any specific cell type.

CombiCult™ platform comprises six integrated modules
Module 1. Stem cells are seeded onto microscopic beads.
Module 2. Beads are shuffled through multiple differentiation media spiked with fluorescent tags that label the beads.
Module 3. Beads are screened to identify those bearing differentiated cells (hits).
Module 4. Hits are sorted by COPAS into the wells of a microtitre plate.
Module 5. Tags are analysed by FACS to deconvolute the cell culture history of hits.
Module 6. Ariadne™ bioinformatics software ranks the differentiation protocols.
