Careers

We are seeking exceptionally talented scientists to develop our technology platforms and to apply them to curing diseases.

We are recruiting energetic and committed individuals at the group leader or postdoctoral level, and capable research assistants with at least 4 years laboratory experience.

Please send a CV and cover letter to careers2008@plasticell.co.uk, clearly detailing your practical experience in one or more of the relevant fields below.

Microculture
Scientists, preferably from a background in industrial bioprocessing, with at least 3 years experience in the use of microcarriers to grow mammalian cells in culture. Candidates should be familiar with the production and/or use of the various carriers and culturing systems as well as optimization and scale up methods.

Stem Cell Biology
Scientists with at least 2 years experience of deriving and characterizing hES cell lines or adult stem cells of different types. Scientists specializing in the directed differentiation of human or mouse ES cells, particularly towards commercially important lineages. Candidates should have an excellent command of the stem cell field, including a strong background in mammalian developmental biology and a thorough understanding of the relevant signal transduction pathways.

Molecular biology
Scientists with at least 3 years experience in the development of reporter cell lines, particularly using gene trapping in ES cells or similar methods. Scientists with at least 2 years experience in comparative gene expression analysis using quantitative RT-PCR or microarray techniques.

Cell Biology
Scientists with at least 3 years experience in the derivation of continuous lines from normal or modified mammalian cells, including cells bearing immortalizing constructs. Scientists with expertise in fluorescence microscopy techniques, particularly automated image analysis, and/or at least 2 years experience in cell sorting using FACS.

Drug Discovery
Senior scientists with at least 5 years practical experience throughout the drug discovery process, particularly those specializing in high content screening and in conventional cell-based assays. Scientists with at least 5 years experience in target discovery, particularly those specializing in target discovery by comparative gene expression analysis using microarrays followed by target validation approaches such as RNAi.
