Board
Christopher Adam
Christopher Adam has over 35 years of board level and operational experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including executive roles in the mergers of Glaxo with Wellcome, and in the acquisition of biotechs such as Affymax. He has sat on the executive committee of Glaxo Wellcome, the board of Glaxo Group Research, and at various times has served as President and CEO of Glaxo's Japanese and French operations. Amongst other senior posts at Glaxo, he has held the positions of Director of Commercial Strategy, and Director of International Marketing. Mr Adam holds a BSc in Biochemistry from University College London, an EMBA from Stanford Business School and is a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur, commended for services to the healthcare industry.
Dr Yen Choo
Dr Choo is the founder of Plasticell and has been Chief Executive and Chief Scientist of the company since its inception. He also sits on the UK Stem Cell Steering Committee which regulates national stem cell research and the UK Stem Cell Bank. Prior to his interest in stem cells he was founder and Chief Scientist of Gendaq (1999-2001), a zinc finger engineering company acquired by Sangamo Biosciences and whose technology is now marketed by Sigma-Aldrich. Previously he was a staff scientist at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge (1995-2000), where he pioneered the engineering of protein-DNA interactions using combinatorial methods. Dr Choo holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Cambridge and for his thesis received the Prize for Young Scientists awarded by GE Healthcare and Science (1996), and the Max Perutz Student Prize awarded by MRC-LMB (1995).
Hugh Cochrane
Hugh Cochrane is CEO of Villay Asset Management, an investment consultancy
specializing in UK and European venture capital as well as investment
in European equities. He has a history of investing in successful
technology companies at an early stage and longstanding personal
experience of managing start-up enterprises.
Daniel Green
Daniel Green is Chief Executive of Bioceramic Therapeutics, a regenerative medicine spin-out from Imperial College London. Previously he was Venture Partner at HBM Partners, before that Director at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein where he co-managed the private equity fund Dr KC Life Science Partners LP, and before that Investment Director at the MRC’s venture capital subsidiary MVM Ltd. Formerly, Mr Green was Pharmaceuticals & Biotechnology correspondent of the Financial Times. He has served on the boards of various biotechnology companies including Cyclacel, Exonhit Therapeutics, Gendaq, Inpharmatica, Predix, Scimagic and Zycos.
